DESCRIPTION:Lovran Chestnut Festival\n\n10/12/2023 to 10/14/2023\n\n\nFood festival in honour of the world’s best chestnuts \nMaruni sweet chestnuts are a cross between the indigenous wild-growing chestnuts and seedlings brought here from the Far East by Lovran seafarers. They owe their distinct taste to the unique local climate. Along with the laurel that gave the town its name\, sweet chestnut is the fruit that has most significantly influenced historical and present-day Lovran. It is set apart by its size and taste\, a result of the fact that it grows extremely well in the dense forests on the slopes of Mount Učka\, where mountain and sea climate meet. \nLovran’s marun sweet chestnut gained fame throughout Europe. It was exported in the 19th century to Italy\, Austria\, Germany and other countries and was regarded as a delicacy by the wealthy guests who visited the town. Marunada is the name of the food festival that takes place every October in honour of this fruit\, which has become a kind of symbol of the town. \nDuring the festival\, which also includes music\, visitors can taste roasted sweet chestnuts as well as desserts and various other specialities prepared with this delicious fruit – even brandy and beer! The prestigious British newspaper The Guardian listed Marunada among its Top 10 European autumn food festivals.

Istria\, the hidden gem on the Adriatic coast\, is establishing itself as a true paradise for international road cyclists in the early and late season. \nMake your dream a reality and cycle up to 300 kilometers. The routes will be closed for traffic. All participants start and finish together in the beautiful coastal town of Poreč. The decision whether to ride 300\, 235 or 155 kilometers can be made on the spot during the ride. Extend the summer in Istria and close the cycling season with friends – sea view included. \n  \nA record number of 2.500 passionate cyclists from 37 nations are registered for this year’s cycling spectacle on October 7th. Thank you to all participants for making Istria300 the fastest-growing road cycling event in Europe. \n  \nEpic bike routes on some of Istria’s finest roads and most spectacular locations will ensure a cycling experience of a lifetime. \n  \nIstria300 – Ride your Limits!
