Truffle Hunting in the forests of Motovun & Benvenuti winery
Depart Rovinj in the late morning with your private car and driver. The first stop is the Mirna River Valley, where our dear friends at Miro Tartufi, Mrs. Mirjana and Mr. Miroslav Kotiga, will introduce you to an underground treasure – the truffle! Under the shade cast by oaks and pine trees, the forests of northern Istria are home to some of the world’s finest truffles. This valuable mushroom grows best in the Mirna River Valley and it can only be found with the help of trained dogs or domestic pigs during “truffle hunting”.
From the home of Mirjana & Miroslav (Miro for short), venture into the forest together with Miro and his very well-trained dogs, Bella and Lila. Watch and learn as Miro and his pack gently unearth the valuable truffle. After about an hour of leisurely walking the forest with the best truffle hunting experience, return home for a sampling of gourmet truffle products such as truffle cheese, salami, oils and spreads as well as Istrian wine, Malvazija. Next, Chef Mirjana will present a cooking demonstration, and prepare a traditional dish with the freshly uncovered truffles. Enjoy unforgettable flavors, and dober tek!

Following your forest walk and meal, your driver will bring you to the best-preserved medieval hill town in Istria, Motovun. Possibly the most picturesque on the peninsula. Take in the sweeping views and stunning Venetian architecture. The intricate system of walls provide the perfect promenade from which to take in the full panorama. With your guide, tour the wine cellar, and learn the history and process of Benvenuti winemaking. Next, proceed to the tasting room for wines, accompanied by locally sourced bites. We invite you to linger and take a moment to capture this moment in your heart. Absorb the gorgeous views, and this special day, before returning with your driver to Rovinj.
