Trogir is a town on a tiny island, linked on one side to the mainland, and on the other the island of Čiovo.
The ancient, narrow stone streets form a labyrinth lined with medieval town houses. The main square rests under the Romanesque Cathedral. The old town has retained many intact and beautiful buildings from its age of glory between the 13th and 15th centuries. In 1997 its profuse collection of Romanesque and Renaissance buildings earned it UNESCO World Heritage status.
The lively seafront promenade, lined with cafes and restaurants, facing South across the Trogir channel to the island of Čiovo, is a buzz with activity on summer evenings.
Originally founded by Greeks 2300 years ago who named the site Tragurion, it later became a flourishing Roman sea port. The culture and architecture were further influenced by the Venetians. Architects and sculptors eventually found their home here, as Trogir became a center for artistic activity in the 15th century. The long history of this town brought new challenges, and changes, resulting in a diverse and interesting story to be told. Before the cooking begins, you and the chef will discuss the menu then explore the local markets to buy fresh caught fish and vegetables from local farmers. The cooking takes place in a charming, authentic old stone house in the heart of ancient Trogir.
