Beginning from your hotel in Zagreb, depart in the morning by private car and driver to one of Croatia’s most stunning natural attractions, Plitvice Lakes National Park.
The cascading turquoise lakes are now an iconic image in the minds of world travelers, illustrative of the pristine nature found in Croatia. Renowned for its gorgeous natural beauty, the park opened in 1929 and consists of 16 crystal emerald-blue lakes and streams connected by a series of more than 90 waterfalls set amid tall cliffs.
Arriving at the park, you will meet your guide for either a 2-hour, or 4-hour, private guided walking tour. The park was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979, and aside from its stunning scenery, has a surprisingly interesting history, telling stories of Croatia’s distant past and present.
The wooded forest of beech, fir and pine trees surrounding the park is home to deer, bears, wolves, boar, and rare bird species. The park provides wonderful opportunities for photography, hiking, cycling and other activities. Even a brief visit allows for breathtaking views and numerous sighting points. Visitors will enjoy leisurely strolls along the wooden planked walkways, and gentle trails.

“A highlight of our trip was our visit to the Plitvice Lakes which my daughter had researched prior to our trip and which was what drew us to Croatia initially. The beautiful turquoise lakes and waterfalls in the middle of a forest were breathtaking – no wonder it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site!”
