ETA – New Entry Requirements for UK

New Entry requirements for US citizens traveling or transiting through United Kingdom airports became effective on January 8, 2025.

ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a new system introduced by the UK government to enhance border security and manage tourism more effectively. Starting on January 8th 2025, the ETA is mandatory for travelers from visa-exempt countries who wish to visit the UK for tourism, business, or short stays (up to 6 months). This system will apply to nationals from countries that do not currently require a visa to enter the UK, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and many others.

The official UK government website provides comprehensive information on the ETA system, including entry rules, application procedures, and eligibility criteria.
